Knightly Greetings! Oregon Commandery No.1 welcomes you to the Knight Templar Armorial Bearing site. Have you ever desired to bear a coat-of-arms that are personal and distinct to you? The Sir Knights of Oregon Commandery One, located in Portland, Oregon have initiated a Knight Templar Armorial Bearings program to support their initiatives and to contribute to their philanthropies. Agreeable to an ancient tradition Knights created personal armorial bearings to distinguish their presence on the battlefield.

Our registration program is your opportunity to distinguish yourself with a unique set of armorial bearings. There are four basic elements of the program: the design, the emblazon, the certificate, and the display. First - the Blazon, your design will be set to words, blazoned, using the traditional vocabulary unique to the art by the Oregon One Herald.   He will review your submission and determine whether it conflicts with the known arms of another individual. If there is a conflict, the Herald will assist you in making your arms unique and distinguished. (Note: The use of "family coat-of-arms" is highly discouraged and subject to extreme scrutiny by the Herald. It is best to avoid frustration by simply starting fresh with a new and unique design.)   Second - the Emblazon, your approved blazon will be sent to a professional artist who specializes in emblazoning armorial bearings. He will create images of your armorial bearings in .gif and .jpg formats. The emblazon fee is included with the gonfalon fee.   Third - the Certificate, we will then issue you a beautiful "Certificate of Registration" under the seal of Oregon Commandery One and the hand of the Commander.   Fourth - the Display, our professional artist will create a beautiful gonfalon (hanging banner) of your arms for display in your home and at Commandery events.   Also remember that duplicate designs are not allowed and two significant differences must exist between designs registered in the program. Don't risk having your design taken by another Sir Knight! Register your armorial bearings today! Commanderies are also eligible for participation in the program.
